Affirmative Action in Higher Education: Where do we go?

The purpose of this study was to reexamine the role of affirmative action within the context of higher education admission policies. I specifically looked at the legal arguments individuals have brought against affirmative action, public opinion, and college enrollment, breaking it down into race and gender from the 1970s to 2015. Overall, public opinion is moving away from race-based affirmative action and while it has been successful for both minorities and white women, minority men college enrollment has remained relatively low in comparison. I believe new policy should be implemented in the effort of focusing on the groups of people that have not benefited as much from the previous usage of affirmative action.
